Obviously Fake Missed Connection ad of the week…
“I Saw You”, Real Ads, Real People, Really, Really, Funny. Tonight, Town Hall Pub, 8pm.
A normal Wednesday for me is as follows: leave work, put the new “I Saw You” script together, go to Town Hall Pub, give the script to actors, run door, start show, drink and finally go home. Last week’s heat was determined to make sure things didn’t run that smoothly.
I went to Town Hall early last week, not wanting to swelter in my AC-less apartment while picking the new material to add to the script for the week. I would rather enjoy the serviceable CTA AC on my way to a frigid Town Hall. Seeing bartender Chris holding his hand up to one of vents upon entering, I had a feeling things weren’t going to go as planned.
I wish I remembered things better, or I wish I journaled more accurately. Now that Bruised Orange Theater Company is days away from opening Lakefront Property, I wish I remembered more about first time we produced Lakefront.
The first thing I do remember is the E2 nightclub disaster. Being part of a new theater company with no practical producing experience in the city of Chicago, at a time where theaters were temporarily closing, or adjusting their schedules in order to scramble and resolve safety issues cited the city, wasn’t a fun time. Finding an affordable space for the meager budget we had, would have been difficult enough in the best circumstances. The post E2 crack down didn’t make it any easier.
…a Bruised Orange play is recognizable by being “disturbing, but in a good way. Like having your teeth worked on: you know it’s going to be better for you in the long run, but it’s extremely uncomfortable and you wish it would stop.
Spectacular standing “O” at Factory Theater’s League of Awesome!
